Vampires Rock

A bitterly cold autumnal night heralded the arrival of Steve Steinman's 'Vampires Rock' show to a normally sleepy Suffolk town.

Having not witnessed the stage show before I was a little unsure as to what to expect, but within minutes I was being completely bowled over by it.

What followed for the next two and a half hours was a glorious concoction of pounding rock anthems, tongue-in-cheek humour and mesmerizing performances.

In essence 'Vampires Rock' is a witty rock show with a vampiric theme. It is set in the year 2030, in New York, and populated by the undead. Baron Von Rockula, owner of the Live and Let Die Club, is in search of a new bride, and must eventually convince her to agree to immortality.

The entire cast were absolutely terrific and an added bonus (especially for a fan like myself) was that this years run heralded Toyah Willcox being handed the part of the Devil Queen, a role in which she thrived.

The lead role of Baron Von Rockula was, as ever, played superbly by Steve Steinman, who wrote and produced the show.

Whenever he was on stage his aura and magnetism held the capacity crowd spellbound and as a result the vibrancy and tempo of the show never let up for a moment.

As you might expect from a rock-themed stage show it contained a great many foot-stomping anthems but it was the likes of such hits as Bat Out Of Hell, Poison, Hells Bells & We Will Rock You that really brought the house down.

If you wish to experience a true spectacle and a magnificent show, then go and see it!

He is currently juggling his freelance writing with work at the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary whilst trying to establish a full-time literary career.
In 2005 he secured a three-book deal with Pegasus Publishers, who are based in Cambridge. All novels thus far are psychological thrillers (think Val McDermid/Bret Easton Ellis with Gothic sensibilities!) His debut novel 'Redemption' was released 23/01/06 with the second 'Dominion' following 08/10/07 & Kismet in June 2010.
